Ciputat – The 13th Open Senate Session for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programs at Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi Ganesha, with the theme "Developing Superior Human Resources with an Entrepreneurial Spirit and Global Competitiveness," took place solemnly at Wisma Syahida UIN Ciputat. The event commenced at 8:00 AM and continued until completion on August 25, 2024.
This year's graduation ceremony was attended by 70 graduates from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Distinguished guests included the Mayor of South Tangerang, representatives from L2Dikti Region III, the senate council, board of trustees, and the Chairman of the Foundation, with a keynote scientific oration delivered by Major General Ridho Hermawan, M.Si. (Deputy of Lemhannas).
In his inspiring speech, Dr. Joned Ceilendra Saksana SIp.SE.MM, Chairman of STIE Ganesha, addressed all graduates, emphasizing that the global challenges ahead are increasingly complex. He urged educated alumni to contribute to development as individuals embodying the principles of Ulul Al-Bab.
"The campus, as a place that fosters critical academic individuals, must continually innovate and make breakthroughs based on the theories imparted. What makes a person great is not wealth, rank, or position, but their ability to uphold strong ethics and character, guiding their behavior toward a better future," he explained, quoting Albert Einstein.
He continued, stating that graduates are not only agents of change but also developers of improved character for a more dignified advancement in the eyes of the world. He ended his speech with a poetic closing:
"Ikan belalang ikan pedak asalkan jangan buaya, selamat kepada seluruh wisudawan yang senantiasa berbahagia" (Congratulations to all the graduates who are always happy). The audience responded with enthusiastic applause.
The scientific oration was delivered by Major General Ridho Hermawan, M.Si., (Deputy of Lemhannas), emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in facing global challenges. He stressed that graduates must deeply understand and embody a comprehensive national perspective in a globally open environment.
"Every era has its own characteristics. In today's era of technological disruption affecting behavior, we need superior human resources with competitiveness rooted in national character. Combining leadership and entrepreneurship is essential for building collaborative strength. Leadership is the art of influencing others to achieve a goal," explained the Deputy of Lemhannas, adding that it is crucial to understand the structure and culture of the nation.
He further elaborated on the gap in education, noting that the majority of the population still holds only middle or high school diplomas. He urged adaptation through the use of technology so that the nation can emerge as a winner. “Our social culture is changing rapidly; education must not only transfer knowledge but also instill fundamental values of character and moral excellence," he remarked.
"An adequate educational infrastructure in the digital world is essential for the digital transformation to be truly beneficial, which is why digital literacy is crucial. To produce superior generations, we must enhance the quality of education, the motto of educators, and methodologies, while engaging in innovative activities. National values instilled through the principle of equality—‘seated equally low, standing equally tall’—and policies that ensure equitable access to economic opportunities must guide us toward building strong human resources based on a foundation of shared prosperity," he concluded.
At the end of the graduation ceremony, awards were presented to outstanding graduates, including the highest TOEFL score award, with the title of Advanced given to Adinda Mar’atu Sa’adah, M.M., who achieved a TOEFL score of 643. The best student award with the distinction of Summa Cum Laude was given to Paulus Sunarjo, M.M., who achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00. Additionally, the award for best competency test from UJIKOM (LSP) was presented to Hadi Priyotomo, M.M.
